Hello everybody. This is Alligator Hour. The hour that consumes everything old and new and struts in the alligator shoes. I’m your host Joshua Homme.
That was Eddie Grant with Electric Avenue. The keyboard sounds on that song are so cool. The sound like an idea springing out of someone’s guts like a brwllll... It’s very dental sounding somehow you know, but in a good way. I don’t know if dental can be in a good way. Let’s not focus on that. Let’s get right into some more music, it should be helpful. It’s the band Can from Germany. The song is Mushroom.
That was Metronomy — Everything Goes My Way of the album English Riviera. A really wonderful record from start to finish. Only came out a year and a half ago or so. They have a new record out as well, but this (is) a great record too. (You) should check them out. I really like that band. It’s one of those records, the English Riviera, where every song hits you right in a right spot. It doesn’t come around that often and when it does you’re thankful. I’m definitely thankful for that record. Before that was JD McPherson. The song was Northside Girl. JD is a really interesting character too. He’s from Oklahoma, Tulsa. There’s a really cool scene going on over there. Lots of interesting artists like Broncho is another one great band from there, but JD is wonderful. He sounds like he’s straight out of 1956, but that’s another record that just came out not too long ago...a year or so. That song Northside Girl makes me wanna hop up and dance. It’s all the great things of Little Richard and Elvis and Jerry Lee all rolled up in one. It sounds current to me, I like that. It doesn’t have to be old, it doesn’t have to be new.
It just has to be...AWESOME.
